Enjoying the simple things
Week 26 of the 2021 blanket and we are passing the half way mark in this cal. I measured my blanket this morning and it is approximately 1 meter! It is big enough for me to cosy under it while I crochet but the weather has been too warm for that this week.
This week saw the kick of the 2021 granny square month CAL. My square features towards the end of the month but there is still plenty to do, crocheting a gorgeous square each day as well as my usual designing. After enjoying designing for the past couple of years, it is a welcome change to simply follow a pattern where somebody else has worked out all the hard parts. I am really reconnecting with this part of crochet again. I have also been lucky enough to get outside a little more this week and went for a glorious riverside walk yesterday. For me this week has proven the old wisdom about enjoying the simple things.
This week, we are building on the start of the flowers by making fptr over the trebles from the previous round.
Materials

Pattern notes

The blanket is worked in the round. You do not need to turn your work after each row and you continue working in the same direction as before.
[Stitches written in brackets like this are all worked into the same stitch.]
For the first stitch on each row: Chain 1 to move up to the next round if the round starts with double crochet. Chain 2 if the round starts with a half treble crochet, and chain 3 if the round starts with a treble crochet. These chains count as the first stitch in the row
Special stitches
Dc – double crochet
Ch – chain
Fptr – front post double treble
Start crocheting here:
Round 32
Use Ocean.
[dc, ch 1, dc] in corner space, 4dc, *6 fptr (over trebles from round 31), 5dc. From * 10 times. 6 fptr (over trebles from round 31), 4dc. Repeat for each side. (124)
