2022 Crochet Blanket!
Happy New Year! Well, I couldn’t resist and here I am starting the 2022 crochet blanket! I had such fun last year that I decided that I just had to do it again:)
I enjoyed working with the lovely deep blues and yellows last year, but wanted something lighter and a bit more cutesy this year so I decided to use the Stylecraft Special DK in sweet pink and blue-green colours. I currently have two balls of each colour and will probably need some more as the blanket progresses, but I will be careful to note how much I use this year.
I can’t wait to get started on this blanket, so lets just dive in:
This week, we are starting the centre of the four granny squares, which will form the middle of the blanket. So although they are quick to make, you need to do it all four times over;).
Materials
Stylecraft Special DK in Cream
Stylecraft Special DK in Buttermilk
Stylecraft Special DK in Powder Pink
Stylecraft Special DK in Candyfloss
Stylecraft Special DK in Pomegranate
Stylecraft Special DK in Duck Egg
Stylecraft Special DK in Spearmint

Pattern notes
The pattern is written using UK terminology, for a conversion chart to US terminology click this link.
The blanket is worked in the round. You do not need to turn your work after each row and you continue working in the same direction as before.
[Stitches written in brackets like this are all worked into the same stitch.]
For the first stitch on each row: Chain 1 to move up to the next round if the round starts with double crochet. Chain 2 if the round starts with a half treble crochet, and chain 3 if the round starts with a treble crochet. These chains count as the first stitch in the row
Special stitches
Ch – Chain
Dc – Double Crochet
Mc – magic circle
Start crocheting here:
Make 4
Foundation
Use Buttermilk
Mc with 6 dc. (6)
Round 1
Dc, ch 1. 6 times. Fasten off. (6 and 6 ch-1-sp)
Round 2:
Use cream.
[2dc] in ch-1-sp, ch 1, skip 1. 6 times. Fasten off. (12 and 6 ch-1-sp)
Round 3.
Use Buttermilk.
[2dc in ch-1-sp], ch 2, skip 2. 6 times. Fasten off. (12 and 6 ch-2-sp)
You should now have four circles that will form the base of the four centre granny squares.
