Dahlias
As you may have guessed by the rounds in recent weeks, dahlias are my favourite Autumn flowers. I had hoped to be able to show you some photos of the ones we are growing in our garden, but the blooms have faded and the plants don’t really appear healthy. I think the heat wave over the summer may have been the cause, and although we watered the garden it most likely wasn’t enough to keep them as hydrated as they would have liked. At least, with crochet I can still enjoy the blooms and I have that you do too.
This week, we are adding the leaves between the dahlia and starting the edging. You may notice that the “dahlia” curves upwards in this part and the rest of the blanket will worked to try to keep this texture.

Pattern notes
The pattern is written using UK terminology, for a conversion chart to US terminology click this link.
The blanket is worked in the round. You do not need to turn your work after each row and you continue working in the same direction as before.
[Stitches written in brackets like this are all worked into the same stitch.]
For the first stitch on each row: Chain 1 to move up to the next round if the round starts with double crochet. Chain 2 if the round starts with a half treble crochet, and chain 3 if the round starts with a treble crochet. These chains count as the first stitch in the row

Ch – chain
Dc – double crochet
Tr – treble
3trcl – 3 treble cluster
Start crocheting here:
Use Spearmint
Round 29: (dc, ch 2, dc) in corner ch-2-sp, 9dc, (2dc) in ch-3-sp, *skip popcorn from round 28, (2dc) in ch-2-sp – from * 4 times. Ch 1, 3trcluster in dc from round 34, ch 1. Repeat full sequence from * for each of the “dahlias”. 2 dc in final ch-3-sp, dc to end of side. Repeat 4 times. Fasten off.
Use Cream.
Round 30: (tr, ch 3, tr) in corner ch-2-sp, 10 tr, *skip 2, (2dc) in between stitches – from * 4 times, skip 2, (2dc) in ch-2-sp, skip cluster, (2dc) in ch-2-sp. Repeat full sequence from * for each of the “dahlias”. Skip 2, the tr to end of side. Repeat 4 times do not fasten off.
