Free Crochet Pattern - Cream Egg Easter Chick

Easter Egg Chick

One of my favourite childhood Easter memories is buying Easter chicks holding Cadbury’s Cream Eggs at the Easter fair. Those little yellow yarn chics were such cute egg cozies that when I learnt how to crochet a few years ago, I was desperate to make them as crochet Easter gifts for my friend’s children. But there was a snag, those Cream Egg holders of my merry memories had been….KNITTED. And I can’t knit.

Fast forward a few years and I have worked out a crochet pattern for the Easter chics. Using simple dc (or sc if you are in America), the egg cozy crochets up quickly and easily and is the perfect last-minute crochet Easter pattern. I am so happy to now be able to share with crocheters this free pattern chick egg cozy pattern and I hope you enjoy making them.

A note about free patterns

Please do not copy and distribute my free patterns in any way, this includes copy and pasting, reformatting and photocopying. Please feel free to print out patterns for your own personal use.

I love offering patterns for free and want to continue to do so. But as a small designer, I am reliant on the income from allowing adverts to be shown on my website to meet the web-hosting and technical costs associated with running my crochet pattern website. If patterns are distributed in ways other than through the website, the website gets no income to keep running. Thank you for understanding.

Making up

From the bottom, stuff the head until it has a good shape. Then pull the thread from the top of the head through the stuffing and then sew the bottom of the head together so that the stuffing does not fall out.

Beak

Turn the chic so that it is on its side and work into the side of a stitch. Attach the orange yarn with slip stitch at the front of the head, just below and between the eyes. All into the same stitch 1slip stitch, 1dc, 1 slip stitch, then fasten off.
