Crocheting this blanket and the design process that goes into it sometimes feel like am replicating what is going on in my life, as I have undoubtedly mentioned before. It feels more true than ever this week. The main part of this week’s rounds are simple rows of htr – the norm. But I wanted to continue making the corners special and worked them into an elegant fan of fptr. And this contrast has been reflected in my week – I spent most of it just doing the norm: work, crochet and cooking. But it has been interspersed with highlights: a birthday chat with a good friend, hearing that loved ones have got their vaccinations and being able to see family in their gardens. And because this is a design-as-you go project, who knows where next week will take me? Most likely it will involve more cute cat on crochet picture though:)
This week, the focus has been on creating elegant corners to complement the pretty but simple striped rounds running around the blanket.

The blanket is worked in the round. You do not need to turn your work after each row and you continue working in the same direction as before.
[Stitches written in brackets like this are all worked into the same stitch.]
For the first stitch on each row: Chain 1 to move up to the next round if the round starts with double crochet. Chain 2 if the round starts with a half treble crochet, and chain 3 if the round starts with a treble crochet. These chains count as the first stitch in the row
Special stitches
Ch – chain
Fptr– front post treble
Htr – half treble
