Crocheting is definitely having a calming effect on me during the lock down and I am so grateful to have a hobby that can really take me away from the world’s worries for a while. I have also been noticing how others have been using arts and crafts to cope. A lot of people in my neighbourhood have been painting rainbows for their windows and after a bit of googling I discovered that children were spotting the rainbows on their daily exercise. I don’t have paints or felt tips to make a display and so I decided to hang rainbow coloured crochet bunting in the window. Hopefully, the bunting (and of course our cat Trixie) will bring a smile to somebody’s face as they pass.
If you also want to join in and make some rainbow bunting, the free pattern is below. It only uses small amounts of yarn, so it is the perfect stash buster and you won’t need to visit the yarn store…
Also don’t forget to add the rainbow bunting crochet pattern to yourRavelry queue.
You can purchase yarn and accessories at lovecrochetand amazon. (Using these links does not cost you any extra but I will earn a small commission that will help me keep posting free patterns).
Join each round with a slip stitch. Start each new round with chains. For the first stitch on each row: Make 1 chain to move up to the next round if the round starts with double crochet. Make 2 chains if the round starts with a treble crochet, and make 3 chains if the round starts with double treble crochet. These chains count as the first stitch in the row
Special stiches
Fpdc – Front post double crochet
3 dtrcl – 3 double treble cluster

Round 3
Using colour. 4 dc into ch-3-sp, fpdc over the top of the cluster. 6 times. (30 stitches)
Arrange your triangle in the order that you want. Using cream, chain 40. Then work into your first triangle, [2dc] into ch-3-sp, 1 dc into each stitch across, [2dc], into ch-3-sp. Chain 20, then join the second triangle as above. Repeat for each triangle. Once you have joined the final triangle chain 40 for the tie.
If you find you would rather have more or less space between the triangles, then you simply adjust the number of chains between them.
I hope you enjoyed this pattern. If you make the rainbow bunting please share it with me on social media:
