Block Stitch Square
March is here, not that you would know it with the covering of snow outside. Not that I’m complaining as it gives me another good excuse to get crocheting (not that I really need any excuse:). And I have been busy making the March Square for the 2023 blanket. I’ve used the attractive block stitch with pops of colour for it.
P.S. If you look very carefully at the picture, you will see the tower of the cathedral through the trees and over the snowy roof tops:)

Pattern notes
The pattern is written using UK terminology, for a conversion chart to US terminology click this link.
The squares are worked in the round. You do not need to turn your work after each row and you continue working in the same direction as before.

For the first stitch on each row: Chain 1 to move up to the next round if the round starts with double crochet. Chain 2 if the round starts with a half treble crochet, and chain 3 if the round starts with a treble crochet. These chains count as the first stitch in the row

Dc – double crochet
Tr – treble
Ss – slip stitch
Start crocheting here:
Use Hint of Silver.
Ch 4 and join with ss.
Round 1: 3tr, ch 2. 4 times. Fasten off.
Round 2: Use Violet.
(dc, ch 2, dc) in ch-2-corner, ch 2, skip 3. 4 times. Fasten off.
Round 3: Use Hint of Silver.
(3tr, ch 2, 3tr) in ch-2-corner, skip 1, 3 tr in ch-2-sp, skip 1. 4 times. Fasten off.
Round 4: Use Pale Rose.
(dc, ch 2, dc) in ch-2-corner, ch 2, skip 3, dc between the two sets of tr, ch 2, skip 3, dc between the two sets of tr, ch 2, skip 3. 4 times. Fasten off.
Round 5: Use Hint of Silver.
(3tr, ch 2, 3tr) in ch-2-corner, skip 1, 3 tr in ch-2-sp, skip 1, 3 tr in ch-2-sp, skip 1, 3 tr in ch-2-sp, skip 1. 4 times. Fasten off.
Round 6: Use Raspberry.
(dc, ch 2, dc), ch 2, skip 3, *dc between the two sets of tr, ch 2, skip 3. Repeat form * to end of side. 4 times. Fasten off.
Round 7: Use Hint of Silver.
(3tr, ch 2, 3tr) in ch-2-corner, skip 1, *3 tr in ch-2-sp, skip 1. Repeat from * to end of side. 4 times. Fasten off.
Round 8: Use Sage.
As round 6.
Round 9: Use Hint of Silver.
As round 7.
Round 10: Use Parma Violet.
