This easy cable crochet cafetiere cosy is the perfect accessory to the easy cable mug cosy that I released as a free pattern last week. It uses the same crochet cable stitch as the mug cosy so you can reference the youtube tutorial to check where you should place your stitches.
I made both cosies in this lovely mellow yellow Stylecraft Belissma but you can mix and matchto create a beautifully bright and warm coffee table.
It will fit a standard 2 cup cafetiere. (diameter approx. 10 cm, depth approx. 15 cm)
Variation
If you have a larger cafetiere, you can make this cosy fit by adding extra dcs at the start and finish of each row and/or by repeating cable pattern more times.
Row 1: Dc in second chain from hook, then dc across. (50)
Row 2: 50fptr. (50)

The cable cross over occurs in Row 7.

Row 9: Dc, fptr over fptr in row 7, dc, 4 fptr over fptr in row 7, dc, fptr over fptr in row 7, dc. Turn. (50)
Tip: On row 9 when working the centre 4fptr, you may still be working behind the cable cross over, so pay extra attention to where you place your stitches.
Repeat Rows 4 to 9 tree times.
The top – These final rows make the edging the matching the edging at the bottome.

Finishing off
Join the top two stitches of each side.
Then position the buttons so that one is in the centre of the handle opening and another is below the handle. Sew the button into place.
For the button holes: For each button. In the opposite side to the button, make 1 dc, then ch 5 and slip stitch next to the dc. Finish off.
