Hello again! This week’s instalment is a little later than planned, but it is because I wanted to add a few extra rounds. As the title indicates, I have been thinking about the size of the blanket and with regard to the weeks left in the year, I though it might be wise to add a few extra rounds here and there so that at the end of the year, the blanket is a comfortable size to snuggle up under on a sofa or to maybe use as a picnic blanket in the the summer.
I have also been working on the leek C2C square with is part of Sunflower Cottage Crochet’s Community Garden CAL. It was a lot of fun to work on something garden related that wasn’t just flowers.
This week, we are expanding the blanket with some colourful stitch sequences.

The blanket is worked in the round. You do not need to turn your work after each row and you continue working in the same direction as before.
[Stitches written in brackets like this are all worked into the same stitch.]
For the first stitch on each row: Chain 1 to move up to the next round if the round starts with double crochet. Chain 2 if the round starts with a half treble crochet, and chain 3 if the round starts with a treble crochet. These chains count as the first stitch in the row
Special stitches
Ch – chain
Dc – double crochet
Tr – treble
Ss – slip stitch
Start crocheting here:
Use Cream
Round 36. (dc, ch 2, dc) in corner ch-2-sp, *skip 1, ch 1, dc. Repeat the pattern from * to the end of side. 4 times. Fasten off.
Use Candy Floss
Round 37: In this round, you will be working into both the dcs and ch-1-sp from the previous round.
(tr, ch 3, tr) in corner ch-2-sp, *skip 1, (3tr), skip 1. Repeat from * until the end of the side . 4 times. Fasten off.
Use Spearmint
Round 38: (tr, ch 3, tr) in corner ch-3-sp, skip 1, *(3tr), skip 2. Repeat from * until end of row. Instead of working into the stitches, you may find it looks nicer if you work into the “gaps” between the groups of stitches from round 37. 4 times. Fasten off.
