Part 2 of the Winter Jewels Lapghan CAL has arrived: The Emerald Cube Granny Square. Think of elaborated set emeralds glistening on the crisp new snow!
You will find the free crochet pattern for this granny square below, but if you prefer working from a pdf then you can buy an inexpensive ad-free pattern from my Etsy andRavelry stores.
You can purchase yarn and accessories at lovecrochet and amazon. (Using these links does not cost you any extra but I will earn a small commission that will help me keep posting free patterns).
Time: Approx. 4 hours
Finished size: Approx. 24 cm x 24 cm (9 1/2 inches by 9 1/2 inches)
The square is worked in the round. You do not need to turn your work after each row and you continue working in the same direction as before.
[Stitches written in brackets like this are all worked into the same stitch.]
For the first stitch on each row: Crochet 1 chain to move up to the next round if the round starts with double crochet. Crochet 2 chains if the round starts with a half treble crochet, and crochet 3 chains if the round starts with a treble crochet. These chains count as the first stitch in the row.

Finishing off
Sew in all the ends. I like my crochet to sit flat, no matter how it is being used, e.g., tucked under you on the sofa or hung over a comfy chair. However, if you like a bit of movement in your crochet you can simply ignore these instructions.
Using cream, you will tack the points of round 10 to the upper part of the tr of round 14. You will be working into the central tr. You can either fasten off after each tack or sew the yarn through the back of your work to reach the next point. Using cream, you will tack the “shells” of round 17 to the trebles in round 19. Make small tacking stitches into the fourth tr of each shell. Do this throughout the four rows of shells, weaving the yarn through the back of your work between the shells. If you are making the full lapghan, I would recommend not blocking until the blanket is assembled.
Hej! Great that you like to try the pattern. I am afraid, I am not sure what you mean about the Pintrest link, could you drop me a line to cat@crochetcloudberry.co.uk and tell me what exactly is happening so I can get it fixed. Thank you.
