Crochet food has definitely been a trend that I have noticed this year. There has also been a lot of food related Christmas ornaments in stores. So I though why not combine the two and crochet a food that simply shouts Christmas: a crochet mince pie. This yarn treat measures approx. 6cm wide and 2.5 cm deep. Using front post trebles the riffles in the pie base have been recreated, while bobble stitches on the filling give it the authentic uneven appearance. I’ve used metallic yarn for the pastry parts just to give it that extra Christmas sparkle.
[Stitches shown in bracket like these are worked into the same stitch]
Special stiches
FLO – front loop only
Bobble – This is a 3 tr bobble stitch

Assembly
Thread 10 to 15 cm Rose Gold Going through the magic circles on the star and on the filling and then back down through the magic circles to form the hanging loop. Fasten into place. Then position sew the star into place on the filling.
Cut a circle of approx. 6cm diameter from the plastic (this can be recycled plastic from a milk flagon) and insert it into the base. Nobody wants a soggy bottom and this will help the pie keep its shape. Then sew the filling on to the base, stuffing as you go.
